FamilyLife We got Dish Network

FamilyLife

We got Dish Network again. ~~sigh~~ It is a mixed blessing, IMO. I could feel like a hypocrite, but it wasn't my idea. Scott really wanted it, and now that our finances are better, there was no reason for me to be disagreeable about it. At least it has DVR, so we can pause, rewind, skip commercials, etc. Hopefully, it won't take over our lives. My conclusion after watching for less than a week: with a few exceptions, there still isn't anything to watch.

We have a "new" car! My parents bought a new Saturn sedan -- no idea what it's called, but it's pretty and nice. The seats are even heated. Anyway, they are selling us their 1996 Chrysler Town & Country. It's still very nice, and it's good to have a minivan again. We gave our Ford Taurus wagon to Cassandra and Mark, as they have almost no money and needed something to drive.

Cassandra and Mark will probably be getting married this week sometime. We won't be there. That may sound really mean, but it's not going to even be a wedding, just a very simple ceremony. Scott really can't take any more days off right now anyway. I really hope it will work out for them.

Cassandra is only 17, and Mark didn't finish high school. They're going to be parents in April. Even though it doesn't sound hopeful, it's not impossible.

We had a good Thanksgiving. Cassandra came back for a week, which was nice. The only thing I didn't really enjoy was that we had to spread the holiday over 2 days, because the only time Scott's family could have their meal was Thursday at 3 p.m. (which turned into 4:30 p.m. by the time everyone got there) Fortunately, I only had to bring the mashed potatoes and deviled eggs. So that meant that my family had to celebrate on Friday. My brother and his family couldn't come because he had a meeting to approve his business loan that day, plus for the first time we had to have Thanksgiving at my house, because my parents moved into a really small "apartment." So my mom said she would do the turkey and ham. I made cornbread dressing, green bean casserole, candied yams, deviled eggs, 2 pumpkin pies, coconut pie, mashed potatoes and corn. We had to wait to eat until 6 p.m. since Jason had to work. By the time we ate and they went home, it was about 7:30. I got in bed and just stayed there. I wasn't sleepy -- just tired. I was a fool and wore my slippers to cook, and I guess standing around in the kitchen that long without arch support made my legs ache. Gosh, I sound old!
