1. What was your first Halloween costume? I can't remember, but I remember how embarrassed I was because my mom had me trick or treat for UNICEF. I just wanted candy.
2. What was your best costume and why? I won a school costume contest in 3rd grade for a clown costume that my mom made for me. I hate clowns, LOL, but the costume was really good.
3. Did you ever play a trick on someone who didn't give you a treat? No, I'm nice.
4. Do you have any Halloween traditions? (ie: Family pumpkin carving, special dinner before trick or treating, etc.) We take our kids to a church "Trunk Or Treat". There are games inside the cultural hall, and afterwards the kids go from car to car in the parking lot and "Trunk Or Treat." It's a safe alternative to Trick Or Treating, and the kids love it because they're with their friends.
5. Share your favorite scary story...real or legend! O.K., this is a true story because I was there. A friend and I went to visit another member of our church. We were just checking on her because we felt we should, plus her mother was worried about her. She was young --- maybe 19 or so at the time. She wasn't married, but had a newborn and she had moved in with some woman that she had just met. It was October 1989, I believe. Anyway, as we were driving to her house, we just had this horrible, foreboding feeling. We got out of the car, and only walked partway up to the door. There was a woman on the porch, and we asked her from the yard if "Rachel" was there. She looked all drugged up or something and walked inside. Neither of us wanted to go to the door, but pretty soon Rachel came outside. We talked with her, and she was whispering to us that she wanted to get out of there that night, and begged us have her parents come get her. The woman she was living with was Scary. Rachel said she was taking her baby from her all the time, and calling it her baby. She was really afraid of the woman and said she was a devil-worshipper. Anyway, we agreed to go tell her parents, and while we were still talking to her a car drove up in the driveway, and a woman in a long black dress got out of the car, along with another woman. And they were both just Vile. I just felt completely creeped out. The woman in the black dress started yelling obscenities at us, and we quickly got in the car, and went straight to her parents house. When it was dark, we went back over with her parents and she came out with the baby and her purse and got in the car. She never even tried to get her stuff back, because she was so afraid of that woman. She told me later that the woman had a pentagram tattooed on her chest, and that the reason she was yelling at us was because she knew we were Christians, and she hated Christians. I personally believed that the woman was thinking about sacrificing Rachel's baby. I don't know for sure, but thankfully she got out of there when she did. It was all so very weird. That is about the spookiest thing that's ever happened to me.
