This guy must have regretted the cost of this $20 dare. He ate 2 slugs, and contracted eosinophilic meningitis (swelling of the brain membranes) five weeks after eating two slugs in 2001, which was just reported in the Medical Journal of Australia yesterday. He had to have fluid drained from his brain and spent 17 days in hospital, and it was five months before he was able to full time studies and sports. Apparently, he wasn't anxious to share the story, as it took repeated questioning to discover that he had eaten the slugs.
