Well...

I guess I can at least update my blog a little. I haven't given up -- I just haven't felt bloggy lately. I cycle through my obsessions, so blogging will catch on again soon. I don't know when, but when it does you'll know. ;)

I also haven't had an internet connection for awhile -- some networking problem -- don't ask me. My husband got some new doohickey, so now we can both get on the internet at the same time.

Lately I've been obsessed with playing Theme Hospital and Lemonade Tycoon 2. I've taken a break from Stronghold Crusader -- finally. But not before I went to the library and checked out books on castles and life in medieval times. I'm currently reading Deliver Us From Evil by Sean Hannity, The Reptile Room by Lemony Snicket (the second in A Series of Unfortunate Events) I also just finished reading Return of the King, which was disappointing. It wasn't the book that disappointed me. I'm disappointed because the story is over. It's one of those stories that you wish you could read again for the first time.

I've started reading aloud to my kids again. Here is what we're reading:
Jason: Carpe Jugulum
Charity: Ivanhoe
Ian: The Bronze Bow
Christopher: The Fellowship of the Ring

I've seen Spiderman 2 twice since it came out. I loved it! It was even better than the first movie. I'm not usually a big fan of superhero stuff, but Spiderman is my favorite since the movies with Tobey Maguire. I hope they keep making them.

On a sad note, Brother Stevens is in the hospital. He got sick recently, and I took him to the doctor who put him in the hospital. He's been in there over a week now, and I have no idea what's going on with him other than what he's told me, which is that he may have cancer. But the stubborn old guy really seriously needs to have 24 hour care. He weighs under 100 lbs. -- he looks like he's all bone. All he wants is to get back to his home and dog, but the conditions he lives in are so awful (no running water, junk, vermin, filth, etc.) that I can't see how he will be able to take care of himself. I'm doing my best to have faith that something will work out for him that he can be happy AND get the care he needs.

My son Ian finally got all the hardware out of his mouth and is doing pretty well. He doesn't seem to be having any more pain from the scooter accident. He's just going to need dental work to replace and repair teeth.

My dog Obi is still missing. I get a call every week or so from someone who has seen him, but he runs off into the woods. I'm so sad about it, but at least he's surviving somehow.

And so far my daughter and son-in-law haven't had to move back in with us. Hopefully, they will be able to continue paying their bills, etc. I will give my daughter some credit for trying really hard to be responsible.

SO good to see you back; great news about Ian, too! :)
I'll keep a good thought for Brother Stevens, and Obi as well. Thank goodness he's still alive, I guess he's eating what people leave behind or throw to him...

So glad to see you again!!!
Internet networking will lead you to a slow death. It is soooo frustating. We ended up just giving up.
Sorry to hear about Brother Stevens.
Isn't The Series of Unfurtunate Events captivating!

Welcome back!

I'm glad at least Obi is still alive, and still around. Don't give up.

When you're picking out stuff to read to your kids, don't forget about Project Gutenberg, where you can download hundreds of classic books, most of them great for kids: Mark Twain, Jules Verne, Arthur Conan Doyle, Robert Louis Stevenson -- I especially recommend Treasure Island, and Daniel Defoe's Robsinson Crusoe. And it's all FREE.

I have a CD-ROM with 700 books on it (including The Bible, King James Version) that I can send you a copy of if you want.

I love you guys! Thank you for all your kind comments. Bloggers are SO cool -- well most of us.

Thank you, Pam. Yes, Obi is a survivor -- thank goodness. I'm trying to keep faith that we'll get him back someday.

Stephanie, it IS a very fun book series. My daughter is up to book 5 -- I need to order it on payday.

Bryk, I would love a copy of the 700 books! I do have a pretty huge amount of books, but it's not always easy to find specific ones. All those authors are great. My oldest son and I have read quite a few of their books. My favorite is Arthur Conan Doyle. I'm just trying to get back on track to make sure that the rest of my kids get somewhat edumikated. ;)
