I just lost a large entry I had worked on, which really ticks me off. The last few days -- let me explain. No, there is no time. Let me sum up...
Taxi-driving kids
Stronghold Crusader :)
Baby-sitting grandson
Daughter now employed at McDonald's
Son-in-law coming back
Son-in law can't keep job anywhere
Daughter and SIL may be moving back in with us
And for today's torture menu:
taking Brother Stevens shopping
taking Brother Stevens to do laundry
listening to the same stories that I have memorized
picking vegetables in the sweltering sun that I don't want but pretending I do
The greatest president of the 20th century.
It's taken me quite awhile to blog about Ronald Reagan since his passing. I admire him so much that it is difficult to put into words. I don't want to trivialize his memory in any way. It also didn't help that my power went off when I had almost finished a post about him a few days ago. :P
He was an amazing leader who had great charisma and wit. He was just so likeable. And when you combine that with his other great qualities of faith, courage, determination, strong moral values and humility -- he was a man who had the ability to change the whole world for good, which he did. In my opinion, to know him was to love him. I miss him so much.
I'm blogging tonight because I realize that people are still actually coming here and reading this crap blog after all the neglect I've given it lately. I do appreciate that people still visit.
See, I cycle my obsessions. Blogging and reading blogs are on the list, along with many others. Want the list? I'll do my best -- let's see... crocheting, quilting, sewing, PSP7, web design, reading, reading aloud, writing a book, video games (Sims, Harvest Moon, Pharaoh, Stronghold Crusader, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Majesty, Neopets, etc.), cleaning house (this one is rare), remodeling, drawing & painting.... the list goes on and on. Right now my head has been stuck in my monitor on Stronghold Crusader mostly, but I did also finish Jordan's afgan, and I'm sewing some fitted cloth diapers for him as well. I also get stuck on TV in the evenings while doing sewing and crochet -- especially Law & Order marathons or stuff on Court TV. Today I noticed that my obsession with Stronghold Crusader is waning. I've gotten stuck on a crusder mission that I can't win yet.
I was supposed to get "shrink-wrapped" today, but I called and rescheduled my appointment. I was so tired that I didn't think I should drive. I went back to bed and slept in until 11:30. Anyway, I feel like I will be fine until the end of next month -- hopefully. ;)
Oh, and for an Obi update, a couple of people have called this week saying they saw him -- couldn't catch him, though. But we went up to the park yesterday and put up some updated flyers. Both people saw him near the entrance, and he ran up a hill. We hiked up there yesterday -- okay, I only hiked halfway up there. I have the chigger bites to prove it. :P Scott and the boys hiked up to the top of the hill. I'm encouraged though. Surely some resourceful person will get motivated to catch him for the reward money. I'd be up there myself a lot more often if it weren't 25 miles away in the mountains. I just don't have the money to do that very often.
Ian is doing well. Since he got his wires off, he has been getting better at using his jaw. I'm just happy that he isn't in a lot of pain anymore. We took his cast off his arm today. I decided to just let him take it off, and so far so good.
I'm sure I could say a lot more, but it's past my bedtime. I'm going to go read some more of Return of the King. I only get to read at night. I'm too sleepy in the mornings, and the rest of the day the kids need my attention every couple of minutes.
The GOP website has a fun little game based on Monopoly with music and pictures. You get to see some of Kerry's assets and their prices. Click here to see if you can afford to live like John Kerry.
I've been killing people and breaking things lately. I never thought I had it in me, but I love violence. Never fear, just on Stronghold Crusader. I've been taking out my frustrations on tiny little enemy troops. I finally have the game. I had downloaded the demo when it first came out, but the game was about $40. My son Jason just bought it at Wal-Mart for $10. I was going to pick up my own copy, but guess what -- once you have loaded it you can play without the disk! :) So if you want this game, buy it at Wal-Mart. But the reviews on Amazon.com are worth reading. Apparently, I'm not the only one that finds this game to be extremely addictive. So now you know what I've been up to lately and why my posting is still sporadic. ;)
I hope everyone had a good Memorial Day weekend. I was happy to get out of cooking for most of it, as Scott grilled on Sunday. We went to to my parents' house yesterday for another cookout. They had cooked for an army, so we actually came home with more food. I may get out of cooking tonight too. My brother and his wife had come down from St. Joseph for a local bike race, so it was good to see them again.
