Manic craft time

Look at me, I'm on a roll -- blogging for two consecutive days! ;)

I have been going nuts with crafts the last couple of days. I want to make every free pattern I find on the internet. Okay, not every pattern. I may skip stuff like the crocheted apron for the dish soap bottle. A lot of crocheted stuff made by well-meaning old ladies is either way too frilly, or it's made of colors that don't exist in the natural spectrum. It's the kind of stuff you sometimes see them selling at craft fairs -- the stuff that makes you think, "Get a decorator in here quick, 'causeā€¦ damn!" Hopefully, the stuff I'm making doesn't have that effect on people. I try to stick with the practical stuff, with the scary colors reserved for things that aren't a permanent part of my home decor.

Here is what I'm working on:
Baby grab ball -- (in progress) cool, but very time-consuming -- 36 pieces!
Crocheted balls -- made 2 for Jordan today. They were easy to make, and I put a few jingle bells inside them (I call them glingleglingleglingle bells for reasons related to Hogfather)
Mesh dishcloths -- (made 3 today) which I'm making rectangular instead of square. I'm thinking about using them as facial cloths if I like them. Otherwise, the cloths will be assimilated into the collective of dishcloths (muhahahaha), and I will buy baby washcloths instead. Disposable facial wipes are overpriced, and some are too harsh for my skin as well. I have a recipe for baby wipe solution I've used for Jordan that I LOVE and want to use for my face wipes.

I can't remember now where I found the recipe, but this is what I use for lavender baby wipes:

3 cups water (you could use distilled -- I don't)
1/8 cup olive oil
1 Tbsp. baby shampoo or baby bath (I use lavender scented of either one)
8 drops lavender essential oil
4 drops tea tree oil

I use a whisk to stir it up in a wipes box (and of course, put in some baby wash cloths or whatever after that).

And now that I've discovered Shirret, I can't wait to get the stuff and learn how to do it.

But for now I'm finally winding down from my manic craft state. I have to babysit Jordan for most of the day tomorrow, so nighty-night.
